managing file size

Melissa Lind 5 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 5 years ago 9

I'm only half way through one of my books and it's already 150 mb without any sound files. I'm looking for ways to cut it back. What are the most size intensive interactions? How intensive are frame animations vs. linear animations? Or do the layers take up more space than interactions? Any advice?

Thanks.

In the Frame Animation Editor the Duration Method and the Duration of Animation variant, they don't keep the change's that I make. It always go back to the default setting.

GUI suggestions

Ranco 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Inna Komarovsky (Administrator) 3 years ago 2

First, it is strange that in order to enter the current page's property you need to open the list of pages and click on ">". It should be accessible all the time.

Second, the list of elements should be easily accessible, again - not via the list of pages.

I would also suggest to allow toggling selection of stacked elements, like using the Ctrl button or otherwise

Hi there, I just wanted to add an update to this thread to say that the page properties can now be opened from the Page Properties button on the left toolbar of Design mode. (If these are not visible at any point, open the Design mode settings by clicking the gears at the top of the window, and click Show Helper Icons.)

To see a list of the elements on the page, click the Element Manager button at the bottom of the window, which is the second icon highlighted in the image below.

I'm not sure if I understand the third suggestion. Would this mean making elements invisible and visible in the builder in order to be able to reach elements beneath other elements?

Make imported audio choices display in alphabetical order

Charmaine Anderson 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Inna Komarovsky (Administrator) 3 years ago 2
It would be nice if you could make audio that has been imported display in alphabetical order when one selects Play audio > target audio.  Right now it seems to display in the order it had been imported.  When you have a lot of audio clips one has to hunt for the file name to select it as the targeted audio to play.  There are instances where one may want to reuse a sound clip. Not a big deal, but would save one a little time  if they are in alpha order.  Also, I noticed when one deletes an audio file from the app file directory, the file name still displays in the app's audio selection options.

Thanks for considering this suggestion.

suggestion - shape groups

SeanB 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 4 years ago 0
Now we have these super shapes, I want to build with them! I'd like to be able to put them into a group and have actions like spring and move work on the whole group.

That is a nice idea. Thank you for the feedback

Add Drop Shadow option to text and graphic element

Charmaine Anderson 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 4 years ago 0

It would be nice to be able to add a drop shadow to text and also a graphic element if possible, particularly if the graphic element is a transparent .png.

Thanks for considering.

Answer

At this time we are only adding drop shadows to text elements.

Text Option - type in Text element font size instead of using a slider

Charmaine Anderson 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 4 years ago 0

It would be nice if there was an option to type in the desired font size rather than using a slider as it is hard to get it to the slider to go to the exact size you want quickly.  Thanks for considering this.

Default Frames Animation Editor Settings

Charmaine Anderson 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 4 years ago 0

Please consider making the Default Frames Animation Editor settings to have Loop Animation set to Yes rather than No, and set the default Duration of Animation to be 1000 ms.  This will save developers time so they don't have to enter this info.  (When I design my animations in Flash I create them to loop at 1 second intervals by default and then export the movie clips as png frame sequence.) Thanks for your consideration.

Display Page Title when selecting Page > Jump

Charmaine Anderson 4 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 4 years ago 0

It would be nice if you could include the Page Title when setting a Page > Jump action. This would be helpful because if one has a lot of pages, you can't remember which page number you want to point to without having to open the page manager. Seeing a page title in the Jump Action would save the developer time.

I'd also prefer having the Jump Action at the root level without having to drill down to it, this would save time.

Thanks for considering this.

Answer

Will be added to a future version (probably 3.3).

Coloring book feature

Korneel Bonte 3 years ago in By Screen / Design • updated by Marléne Hökgren 4 months ago 16
Idea is to let children paint freely on a coloring plate so the black lines don't get overcolored.
it would be nice to be able to do this with 2 layers (one for the coloring & one for the lines.
also a paint bucket would let children create beautiful coloring pages quickly.
-> how do I make these two as fast as possible? In as less steps as possible?
Answer
Hi there,
Currently, the lines created with the Draw behavior cannot be underneath the outlines, but to create a paint bucket tool effect that colors behind the outlines of the drawing, you can use the FillColor behavior. Add a Tap-FillColor action set to a blank graphic element, and set the target of the action set to be the portion of the drawing that should be filled when that area is tapped. You can copy and paste this blank graphic element and change the target element depending on the location of the blank element. I'll put together a quick video on this effect and post it here.
