Next steps once book is ready

Once we have our app working, and are standing by for you to compile it, are there other steps we can take meantime, to prepare for the different marketplaces? Such as icon designs, account setups? Do you have any such support materials like this for us authors? Thanks!

Hi Sean,

If you want to use one app for different marketplaces, it will automatically resize proportionally to fit within the different screen sizes, with a little black space around whichever dimension is larger. If you do prefer to create different versions of the app, you can duplicate the app, change the dimensions, and adjust the artwork to apply to different screen sizes. This decision is up to you : )

Regarding the app icon, as long as the icon you included in your app publishing materials is a 1024x1024 square without rounded corners, the icon will be adjusted (size and rounded corners radius) for each marketplace. The following user guide article describes this as well as other publishing options: Publishing to the App Marketplaces.

Please reply to this ASAP. I need 2 clarifications - I've been standing by as Ezra was to restart submissions now that the memory leak issue is resolved. There has not been a new IB4 update, so I assume those issues are internal to your publishing servers.

1 - I actually didn't/don't need to stand by?
2 I can go ahead right now and publish my app to marketplaces of my choice?

I guess I will proceed with the assumption of yes/yes.

Hi Sean, I've been trying to get an answer for a week. Last week I was told that the iOS issues hadn't been resolved, and until Apple does an iOS8 update, they don't know a way around it. I said I wanted it to still be published on Android which Ezra said he'd do, but haven't heard back yet, despite writing several times. I imagine it's very stressful for them at the moment but I wish I wasn't being kept in the dark. Unless the memory issue has been resolved since last week then that's all I know.
Think I'm in the same boat as you mate.

Hi Rhys!
Yay we are not alone!! Yep I figure they're slammed. I heard it was solved; hope new blocker bugs weren't discovered.

Have you tried any of the other direct publishing features within IB4? According to the user guide we can do it ourselves.

I have an Amazon seller account, at least for ebooks. Hopefully its all the same. IB4 has an option to use your own developer account. I am going to try that. Will post results here.

When you think about it, how can Ezra post to the markets for us? Shouldn't it go through our own accounts so we get paid?
I didn't realise we could do it ourselves.. I thought we had to do the 'publish' option, then wait for IB guys to convert it to .apk or whatever the iOS file type is called. I would be distributing it myself yeah, I've got a Google developer account already, and will get an apple one when my first apps are ready to go live.
Will have to look at the user guide properly to see about doing it myself. Please let me know how it goes if you can do it (and send a link to the user guide page please!), I'd want to save Ezra and the team some work if I can, but as I said I thought that they had to do it for us.
Unfortunately you are right, I just re-read the docs. Even with our own dev account, we still need them to deliver us a zip for us to process. I had just been emailing with Ezra. I need to submit through IB4.

Then back to my seat, while we remain in a holding pattern for IB team to land this thing. Is there a waitress on this flight? I'd like to order a coctail...
There are actually two ways  you can publish your apps on your own, but the first step is for us to send you a zip file that has your app ready to publish.

The two ways we recommend to publish is compiling your app with:

https://www.ludei.com/cocoonjs/
http://phonegap.com/

We have found that with Phonegap you need to use a couple of plugins to resolve some issues, which I believe requires a paid account.  Cocoon seems to do a very good job but make sure you select Webview+ when you compile your project. It is completely free and they have various platforms that you can compile your project to.  We will add some documentation on the steps to follow when compiling your app to Cocoon.  It's really quite easy to use Cocoon and it's very fast.
