Scrolling page menu and turn off the narration only.

cathy lane 11 years ago updated by Alin Alexandru Matei 11 years ago 1

I have 2 questions ( I apologise if you have seen this twice as I was not sure weather I posted the question in the correct place before)

1.I want to create a scrolling table of contents for the picture book app I am developing . I know it is possible as it has been done in the book "Goodnight little sea otter"  which was produced by interactbooks. How do you do this?

2. I also want to know how to turn off the narration only. I can only find an option to turn off all the audio? Thankyou!!!

InteractPlayer cannot play sound loud on iphone

Truman Kong 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 4
I have downloaded the InteractPlayer 3.4.355 on iphone 4S, After sharing my App. I can run the App with no problem, all the click, turn pages, actions go well. However, the sound on the App can hardly be heard, as the sound level is very very low, as it through the internal speaker of iphone4S. I have turned it up to the highest. But when I use a earphone to listen, there is no problem at all. Why can't I hear the sound via the internal speaker?

Hi Truman,
I haven't yet been able to recreate this problem, but I wanted to ask a couple of questions
- When you turn the volume up while the app is open, does the volume symbol say "ringer," "volume," or "headphones?"
- Is the phone inside a case that may be blocking the area where the sound comes out?
Thank you for the feedback!

Turn off narration?

cathy lane 10 years ago updated by Alin Alexandru Matei 10 years ago 0
I have a toggle button for the user to turn narration on and off. I have tried to apply stop narration to the toggle in action sets. I have also tried to apply counter value behaviour to the toggle and the narration on the page- no luck- I can't work it out. Could you help please?
thanks Cathy

Hi Cathy, here's a sample app on how to stop the narration:
337 - Stop Narration.zip

On the first page you will need a App Counter. The Read Me On/ Read Me Off elements will set the App Counter to 0 or 1. As for the narration audio you will need to have conditions on them. So for example: The Read Me On will set the Counter App to 0. The narration audio will need to have the Play Narration behavior with condition being: Counter App Value is 0. Then when the Read Me Off element will be clicked the App Counter Value will be set to 1. So the narration won't play anymore unless you tap the Read Me On element again.

InteractPlayer | More Than 3 Devices Error

Pardesi Media 10 years ago updated by user 8 years ago 3
Hi,

I am trying to test my applications using my iPhone and iPad but I keep getting the error that I have more than 3 devices registered. I use my Mac for development and then iPhone and iPad for testing so not sure what are the devices registered? My testing is stuck because of this.

Thanks.

Your device count has been increased and the device list has been cleared.  You should be all set.

First time frame animation: minor scale down of element

Ranco 10 years ago updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 10 years ago 4
For every single frame animation in my book, the first time I activate it, it scales down just a bit (~1-2 pixels) before the animation starts. Next time, it works fine, without the scale (or maybe it is already scaled down?)
See example Here

Suggestion: copy and paste action sets to multiple elements

Melissa Lind 11 years ago updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 11 years ago 7

It would be great to have an easy way to copy and paste action sets to multiple elements. The current option is not really much of a time saver. It takes as much time as setting up a new action set. Perhaps you could drag and drop the action sets, and how great would it be to be able to highlight ten different elements and have them all get the new action set.

Thanks!!! Great work.

Answer

You can easily do this by simply setting up your first element setting up all your action sets, and then making copies of the element and change the graphic of the element. Rather than dropping your elements on the page first.

The other way to do this is to access the action set manager which has a copy option in to to copy entire sets of action sets from one element to another.  You can see how to do this in the user guide:

InteractPlayer playback discrepancies

Judy K. Johnson 10 years ago updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 10 years ago 1
Just to let you know I had reported a discrepancy between PC and Mac InteractPlayer.  The PC would hang up on page 8 and require Task Manager to close the file.  The MAC Air (11") would play the app from beginning to end.

After I had reported the discrepancy, I went out to InteractBuilder website to look again for an update to InteractPlayer.  I was delighted to see that there was an update 343 for me to download tonight.  I was also delighted to see that the update has solved the dilemma with my app lockingup in Player on page 8.  This update now correctly plays my app from beginning to end.

Thanks InteractBuilder team.  It's obvious that you are doing everything possible to keep all of us writer/illustrators happy.
Answer
If you could zip up your application folder and share it with us via DropBox or another file sharing service we will take a look at it and see if we can recreate the issue.

Publishing to BigFishGames

Ted Ollikkala 10 years ago updated by Ezra Weinstein (Administrator) 10 years ago 1
I may wish to have my Adventure Game app distributed through BigFishGames

http://www.bigfishgames.com/

Their terms are not set forth up front, so it's hard to know what the commission and/or fees would be:

There is some information here:

Q. What kind of criteria does the game need to meet? Would a Windows only game work, or does it need to be cross platform? Do they have some kind of minimum system requirement for all games?

A. Windows only is fine. If you can convert it to Mac easily you will make a decent amount of extra sales. Also make sure that all your game text is read in from a Unicode text file because then if the game does well you can localise it and make more sales on BFG’s foreign language portals.
Minimum requirements are XP (they don’t support Windows 98 any more). Also the game has to be able to save data in the correct location for Vista and Windows 7 properly which is a bit of a headache (you’ll need to research this). You can’t put any web links in your games or connect to any online service (for high scores etc.) You should test your game on XP/Vista/7 just to make sure it works the same and there are no graphical or sound anomalies (I use a different sound driver for Vista/7 for example).

Your game should start in full-screen at 800×600 minimum and have a windowed mode option. There’s a bunch of other “nice to have” things too such as simple options screens (not complicated ones), making sure you can Alt-Tab out/in of the game without graphics corruption + pause it – stuff like that. Just check out any of the other top games and see how they handle things. Also you can always ask for a QA checklist when you submit (or before) and hopefully they’ll send you something.

FOR EXAMPLE:

For example, this title "The Secret Legacy: A Kate Brooks Adventure" is available in 4 different formats from the BigFishGames store, all accessible from the main page and linking to the various app stores:

http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/10891/t...

(i) Amazon app store - http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.bigf...

(ii) Google Play store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com....

(iii) iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-secret-legacy-...

(iv) PC - http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/10891/t...

QUESTIONS:

Is an app published via the InteractBuilder in a form that can be submitted in all four versions?

If not, which versions could be submitted?

Thanks!

Ted

Answer
Currently this is not the direction we are moving towards.  The apps created in the InteractBuilder can be submitted directly to the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Chrome store (for desktops).

We may look at this in the future.

Hi Sean, I'm trying to recreate this problem in order to figure out what situation causes it, but it's not working the same way for me, so I wanted to ask a few questions to see if I can recreate it:

- On which page is the home icon?
- Was the icon copied from somewhere else or copied as a template?
- Is the icon global?

Thank you for reporting this problem!
